KMR Pet MilkI currently use KMR pet milk. It is an excellent way to nurse both small and larger cats in various health conditions. From larger adult cats to young kittens, KMR provides colostrum, nutrients sugars and protein to aid in a cats nutritional needs. KMR has a long shelf lifeDry KMR can be kept in the freezer, once opened, for 6 months. Liquefied KMR can be kept in the fridge for 24 hours. Extra KMR can be mixed into cat food or fed directly to cats or kittens. If no KMR available, the milk that has the lactose removed (Lactaid etc from the grocery store) can be used. Mixing KMRI usually mix the KMR in a clean butter tub, with a lid, or a clean cottage cheese container with a lid. I usually go for a little more liquid than called for in the mixing instructions. Sometimes I substitute some Pedialyte for some of the water in the mix. I put in the measurements of KMR for the amount of servings that I need into the butter tub or larger container and add the lukewarm water, then put on the snap on lid and shake it up until mixed. It is a lot easier to shake-mix than to stir. Other uses for KMRKMR is a valuable, long shelf life powder to have around, in case of emergencies or as a general food enhancer for cats and kittens. It is a good thing to give to pregnant females for extra nutrition and nursing cats to help them with their mik production. Other Pantry NecessitiesKMR, baby food (turkey or chicken), shredded cheese(sharp), cans of water packed tuna, and baby rice are all valuable "extras" to have in the pantry for emergencies. With cats and kittens you never know when the next problem can occur and it pays to be as ready as you can be.
