What the heck are tiny tanks?

Tiny tanks work like aqua globes. I show you how to make them youself with things you have around the house. i have these placed all throughout my garden and they help quite a bit. Tiny tanks provide hydroponic-like intense production in normally passive growing situations.

What good are Tiny Tanks?

They provide a boost of water and/or nutrients to developing plants(that also have huge root balls that need constant water and food as they grow) in varying conditions.

How do Tiny tanks help my plants?

For example, a plant with its roots growing in crowded conditions or in a shallow container(hanging basket) will appreciate the extra water and food from a tiny tank.

So what?

Often plants come in assortments in small containers, and tiny tanks are perfect for that application. Several can be placed in the assortents' final location and will continue to feed and water all of the plants as they grow.

Why not just water the plants with a water hose like I always do?

A gardener will usually have to supplement water needs of the plant as the season grows warmer--I know that I do! But relying on watering tomato and other similar plants with a garden hose is a problem, due to excessive leaf watering and contamination from splattering soil on top, as well as lack of soil penetration with water from the hose to the root zone below. This leads to a wilted plant with dry roots and leaf disease and defoliation. By the time a person has manually squirted enough water onto the plant to saturate its roots with water with a water hose, the leaves are usually messed up and/or the plant is suffering from all of the water that has been dumped on it. Water is wasted and the plant does not get enough of what it needs.

I thought watering with a garden hose was enough!

Sure leaves need to be washed occaisionally, but avoiding the soil splattering as much as possible will help the leaf health, and plant health and fruit and blossom production quite a bit.

How do I help fruiting plants like tomwtoes to produce good, delicious fruit?

I have tomato plants that are producing fruit, and tiny tanks provide these plants with an even supply of nitrogen, needed for bigger fruit. I also have lettuce with similar needs for leaf development and nitrogen. Tiny tanks placed nearby feed the lettuce, avoiding leaf mess-up from overhead watering.

What other situations do Tiny Tanks help?

I grow herb plants at the base of shrubs in large pots. The larger shrub protects the herbs from extremes in weather(microclimate) with its overhanging leaves.

A nutrient enhanced little water in the right spot works miracles!

With tiny tanks installed in the root filled pot, the small herbs get food and water on an extended basis. This is just what a lot of plants need, food and water on an extended basis until they get established.

What else can I do?

I add moisture mizer to the growing media prior to planting and this material absorbs water and swells. It acts like little tanks in the soil and hold any excess water that flows into the soil around new plants. Plant roots seek out and penetrate the food and water saturated moisture mizer for more food and water as needed.

Moisture mizer, the ultimate back up for food and water.

This gives plants a double backup system for food and water. When the tainy tank runs out and the weather gets hotter and drier, the moisture mizer is in the ground, around the root zone, providing food and water until I can water and feed the plant, and fill the tiny tank.

Dealing with overcrowded conditions

Tiny tanks is kind of like having a reverse hydroponics system in your yard and/or containers. The extra supply of food and water stimulates the plant to continue growing and producing even though it may have an overcrowded root ball or growing in an overcrowded container.

Fruit, flower leaf and ultimately root production is the name of the game

It is all about production with plants. As plants age and produce an abundance of necessary roots, tiny tanks are there to keep the plant thriving and producing leaves and fruit.

Giving gardeners the edge on producing beautiful healthy plants, and saving valuable water

Trying to water a shrub or other plant that is overcrowded in its container with a large root ball is a challenge, but tiny tanks gives the home gardener the edge, and they keep working season after season.
