Tasty Turkey and Vegetable Loaf This recipe requires 2 cans of mixed vegetables, cooked rice, some v8 vegetable juice(I use low- salt), mild herbs that are cat friendly like basil and oregano, several pounds of thawed ground tubed turkey(depending on how many pets you have). - Step 1 Feed all cats in the area before you start. This will help alleviate desperate, crowding behavior, cats stepping in your ingredients etc., as you attempt to make the dish.
- In a mixing bowl place the contents of the turkey tubes, removed from the plastic.
- To the meat, add 1/2 can of vegetables per pound of turkey(varies, turkey is so greasy that it will all end up tasting like turkey anyway)
- Add 1/2 cup of cooked rice per pound of turkey, along with the appropirate amount of v8.
- Place the mixture in a crock pot, add a dab of herbs, and run on high for several hours.
- Depending on temperatures, quantity of ingredients used, and other factors. It may take a while for the turkey to cook all the way through.
- Once done, cool before serving. I cool my cooked recipe in a large metal pan in the refrigerator. Then, once cooled, I move it to flat tupperwares for easy storage. The cats love it. Some prefer this recipe to fried patties because, in my opinion, the flavor is much better and the fat content(cats need 30 percent fat is what I have read) is more evenly mixed into the recipe when cooked this way.
